What do you want for Christmas?

Before The Holidays – 1 Week Out

Last week I started with the yard and repairs. This week I’ve moved inside for some deep cleaning. It’s time to break out, refill and use all those nice natural chemical free cleaners I’ve been making.

To make natural cleaners yourself look HERE.

To buy some I’ve already made, look HERE.

The goal for today is to restock all my cleaning supplies, make a list of what I want to accomplish this week and start from the ceiling down. I think sweeping cobwebs out of the corners and cleaning the ceiling fans is a great start.

The 1 Week Out/Holidays are Coming/Deep Cleaning List:CWDirtyFan

Before the Holidays – 2 Weeks Out

Preparing for the Holidays in Florida means getting ready inside and out. I usually start  two weeks before Thanksgiving week with any lingering projects/repairs and the outside chores, then move inside. The week before Thanksgiving is deep cleaning, usually cleaning out cabinets and drawers, washing windows and maybe the upholstery. The week of Thanksgiving is all about shopping, baking, crafts, decorating, friends, family and fun!

This week I’m working on this years “two weeks before” list. This includes painting the bathrooms and a doorway and maybe replacing some grout in the hallways. I started sanding and caulking the bathrooms earlier this year but never finished. I’ve been a little busy.

I’ve already started the outside chores this week with cutting the grass for the last time until Spring and making a fire to clean out the fire pit. I started trimming bushes, digging up weeds and raking leaves. I’ll let the chickens help with the weeding, they’re good at digging up weeds. Then it all goes in the compost pile.

I’ll be cleaning out the animal houses and  I might put lights in the coop. I’m not sure yet because since an earlier post where I talked about putting lights in the coop, I’ve been getting more eggs. Hmmm. I think they heard me talking about it. 🙂

I have lots to do, I better get busy.

Holiday Giving and More

2Corinthian 9:7” Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

November and December are the biggest months of the year for giving. I’ve already mentioned T-shirts for Turkeys that kicks off this Saturday in a previous post, but there are so many good charities to consider.

Here are a few that my friends and I help support.

Fall Garland

A cute Fall garland of colorful leaves that match the Falling Leaves Curtain here.

You’ll need:

Construction paper- green, brown, red, yellow and orange.

Leaf stencils (or draw free hand) can be various shapes and sizes. I think one shape and size looked good too.

Pencil. brown  yarn, scissors, tape

What to do:CWLeafBanner

Trace or draw leaves and on construction paper.

Cut out shapes. Fold paper to cut 6 at once.

Cut a piece of yard as long as want your garland to be.

Draw veins on your leaves.

Tape leaves together.

Attach leaves to yarn. I find taping is easiest

Hang over windows or doorways by pinning or taping.

Use scrapbooking paper with patterns instead of construction paper.

Add glitter to leaves.

Have Fun!
