Over the past couple of years I’ve been busy replacing our basic chemical-laden foods, household items and personal care items with natural, homemade chemical free versions. I’ve said before that we are probably on the healthier half of the way most Americans eat. So, I was very, very, very surprised when I saw cavities in my little ones teeth! Within seconds I started an intense search for what causes cavities. In the mean time, he was on a NO SUGAR AT ALL diet and I put MORE toothpaste on his toothbrush.
The bad news is, as I was also surprised to find out, that almost everything he eats causes cavities. His favorite foods, well he likes all foods, but his staples. Oatmeal, granola, nuts, seeds, breads, chips, juice and fruits are all high in Phytic Acid. From what I understand, Phytic Acid absorbs the minerals needed for strong bones and teeth- calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron.
So what do we do now? Become vegetarian? Oh wait! The list didn’t include meat or…any animal products for that matter. Hmm. I remember coming across a lot of blogs and websites talking about fat being good and soaking their food, but I never read enough to know what it was really about. I wasn’t ready to jump on the hippie bandwagon yet. You know the ones who drink grass and eat fermented foods that I used to throw out. lol. Yes, I eat cheese and yogurt, and I’ve been thinking a lot lately about soaking foods and fermenting kombucha.
The good news is our awesome God created a body that can heal itself. And He gave us the wisdom to figure it out. While revisiting soaking foods, I came across remineralizing toothpastes. You can heal your teeth!
Stay tuned for more about soaking foods and our toothpaste production!
Did I tell you I even tried Oil Pulling?
